A technologist who thinks like an operator

JR Lopez is a multidisciplinary technology professional and entrepreneur. He combines hands-on technical expertise with the ability to manage operations, solve complex business problems and translate business needs into technology that works.

In 2020 he founded Glavnos Holdings, a Brooklyn-based technology services firm, and has since served as a fractional technology, systems and marketing lead for nonprofits, consulting firms and professional practices. That work spans WordPress platforms and hosting, IT oversight and documentation, search visibility, payment and donation systems, and the workflows behind client acquisition.

Before Glavnos, as a partner and chief marketing officer, he helped build New York Capital Technologies from an emerging technology services company into an operational IT solutions provider, originating more than a third of its customer relationships, establishing its recurring revenue model and building the vendor relationships, service agreements and SOPs it ran on.

His background in sales and account management shapes how he works: listen first, understand what the business needs, then measure technology by what it does for the people using it. He can talk with executives about objectives, work through implementation with technical teams, coordinate vendors and stakeholders, and troubleshoot systems directly when that is what the moment requires.

Selected projects

Challenge, approach, execution, result. Outcomes are described as they happened; no invented numbers.

Troubleshooting under constraints

Moving a production law-firm site to staging

Challenge

Create an exact staging copy of New York Small Business Law for redesign work. The site held 14.7 GB on disk, a CDN rejected large uploads, and a security tool on the workstation was silently blocking the connection to the site.

Approach

Investigate before acting: trace the failed connection to antivirus TLS interception, then separate the real payload from old backups.

Execution

Configured Node to trust the inspecting certificate, reduced the transfer to about 1 GB, moved it server to server in checksum-verified chunks through a temporary key-protected endpoint, swapped the staging database while preserving access, and rewrote every URL and path.

Result

A verified, search-engine-blocked staging mirror with the live site untouched, ready for safe redesign and SEO work.

Website modernization

A bilingual platform for Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico

Challenge

The foundation had outgrown its Squarespace site and needed full English and Spanish content plus online giving.

Approach

Move to WordPress on dedicated infrastructure, with multilingual and payment capabilities chosen for long-term maintainability.

Execution

Launched on a DigitalOcean droplet with WPML, a customized Elementor Pro design to the foundation’s specifications, Stripe donations through GiveWP and dynamic content with Dynamic.ooo.

Result

A bilingual platform the foundation can grow with, with donations built in.

Systems & growth

The digital and IT backbone for a growing firm

Challenge

Lydia Sierra Consulting needed its website, lead generation and internal IT to keep pace with rapid growth.

Approach

Treat the website, campaigns and internal infrastructure as one ecosystem rather than separate projects.

Execution

A site with Lottie animations, a CDN and Google Site Kit; Zapier webhooks and lead funnels; internal documentation and transparency in IT Glue.

Result

Infrastructure that supported the team’s growth from three people to more than fifteen.

Platform modernization

Gutenberg without losing an identity

Challenge

Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice ran on the Classic editor and needed a modern, maintainable platform without losing its established look.

Approach

Modernize the backend first, then refresh the design within the organization’s existing visual language.

Execution

Rebuilt on the Kadence theme and the Gutenberg editor, with ongoing performance, SEO, security and UX work.

Result

A modern platform in continuous care since 2021.

How I work

Own the outcome

When something breaks or stalls, I take responsibility for understanding it and getting it resolved, with the right escalation when it is needed.

Understand the business first

Technology decisions carry costs, risks and long-term commitments. I weigh them the way an owner would, because I am one.

Investigate, don’t guess

Look past the symptom, examine the configuration directly, test competing explanations and fix the underlying cause.

Build for the long run

Deployment, security, performance, accessibility, documentation and maintenance are part of the job, not afterthoughts.

Beyond the office

Discipline on and off the mat

Outside of work, JR is a competitive martial artist in point fighting and light-contact kickboxing. He is the 2024 NASKA World Champion, finishing the season ranked first in point sparring, and the 2025 WAKO National Champion in light contact. He has qualified for WAKO Team USA and competes in the Masters division.

In May 2025 he had ACL reconstruction surgery. He was medically cleared in January 2026 and returned to competition, reaching finals at significant tournaments and earning placements. The same habits carry into his work: preparation, patience through setbacks and a commitment to doing difficult things well over a long period.

He also volunteers with the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club Keystone Club, supporting fundraisers, coat drives and mentoring programs.
